Newcastle preparing new bid for AC Milan star after Tonali

Newcastle have no intention to stop their shopping at AC Milan with Sandro Tonali and are preparing another bid.

The unimaginable happened during the summer transfer window. AC Milan decided to sell Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United for a club record fee of €80 million, add-ons included. It was a sensational transfer that caught everyone by surprise. The Rossoneri fans did not accept that the new management would sanction the sale of the Italian midfielder who was projected as future captain of the squad.

On the other hand, it was a fantastic signing from Newcastle that demonstrated their ambition with Tonali already becoming a key player for Eddie Howe’s side. However, Newcastle continue to have a close eye on AC Milan players. The rich English club also discussed with AC Milan a possible transfer for Theo Hernandez that did not materialize.

Nevertheless, Milan did not close the door to Theo’s exit. In fact the Rossoneri named their asking price of €100 million for 25-year-old left back. Calciomercato.com reports that the Premier League club have never lost sight of the France international. Newcastled are preparing to make another attempt to sign Theo Hernandez next summer claims the report.

At the end of the season Theo would have only two years remaining on his contract with Milan. The contract of Hernandez with the Italian club expires in 2026 and Theo currently earns 4.5 million per season. The French left back can easily earn twice that figure if he agrees to join one of the rich Premier League clubs. Newcastle would be more than happy to offer him a similar contract to his friend Tonali of €10 million per season.

There are currently no renewal talks between the parties with Milan focused at the moment on the Mike Maignan issue. Theo Hernandez is highly regarded by AC Milan but the new management considers every player on the market for the right price. There is a real concern among the Rossoneri that Milan will keep selling an important player each year trying to implement their American moneyball approach.
